Analyzing Your Name

I’ve already given you a good idea of how to do this from a spiritual point of view – in the drop-down Lessons menu (1 through 4) listed under “How Your Name is Sacred Spiritual Meanings” on the Header Menu Bar….(the “How Your Name is Sacred Spiritual Meanings Page itself, lists the Spiritual meanings of the Letters of the Alphabet.)

This Page however, addresses how to apply the technique for all the mundane letter meanings – the understanding of your name in relationship to your everyday, practical life.  This is listed as a huge 26-Letter drop-down menu under “Letter Meanings” on the Header Menu Bar.  (Go up and look now and just ‘rest’ your cursor over “Letter Meanings” and you’ll see what I’m talking about!!) However, if you ‘click’ directly onto “Letter Meanings” you’ll get all the alphabet listings – but with a very short, tongue-in-cheek, fun – yet accurate account of all the letters….however, it’s the long version (in the huge 26 letter drop-down menu), that you really need to study!

We all have an interest in names, but the idea that they could hold any special or redeeming qualities, never occurs to us – especially if we happen to dislike our own.

Part of my research has been to demonstrate the validity and importance of all our Birth-Certificate names.
An interesting example of this occurred several years ago.  An elderly man came to me for Name Analysis at the urging of his son – a previous recipient of my expertise.  He had decided to give me a ‘name-challenge’ based on his father’s unusual life-history, who, as a German youth (together with his parents), had escaped to England during the political rise of the Nazis. Being Germans (in a country that ended up desperately fighting Hitler’s forces in WW2), they had put origins behind them and legally ‘Anglicized’ their names….and this gentleman (at the time of his Reading with me) had not used his German birth-name in 50 years!
During our consultation, I compared his German and English names in detail.  The information astonished him – especially the depth of relevant meaning in his forgotten and unused name.  I explained that succeeding name-changes act as filters for the original name (as for instance, when women drop their Maiden Names at marriage). In this man’s case, the discarded birth-name took on the function of a Middle Name becoming a reservoir of deeper, more hidden elements in the personality.

It doesn’t matter how many names are subtracted or added, the one on the Birth-Certificate will always filter through the new one.  We never really lose or nullify that original name, it’s energy influence always prevails, even if remaining in the background.
Whether you like it or not, the name on your birth-certificate, contains the sound and energy frequencies for your life.

Terms Used in Connection with Names:
Given
name
– the one on your birth-certificate.
Christian name – your First name.
Maiden name – another name for a woman’s Last or original Family name.
Surname – another term for the Family or Last name.
Legal name – thiscould be the one on your birth-certificate, unless you have changed your name through marriage or naturalization.  If you went through the Court System to change or re-register a new name, the most recent one becomes the new Legal name. However, the original, given name on the birth-certificate contains the Master-Template for your life – not the changed one!
What the new Legal-name does – is to createa fresh ‘experience-filter’ for the initial birth name.

Most of us have two or three names – First and Last – or First, Middle and Last, and married women commonly have a First, Middle and Married name (their Maiden name hiding in the wings).

Unusual as it sounds, occasionally a man will take on his wife’s Last name by adding a hyphen between his own and hers, thus creating a new legal double-name for himself.

It’s traditional in Western cultures for the woman to drop her Last name and assume her husband’s – the old idea of the blood-line passing through the man with the woman just being his channel (and chattel!).  Now with more equality between the sexes, she will frequently keep her Maiden name at marriage – or will add a hyphen, retaining her own as well as gaining his. Such a novel arrangement, often makes for extremely interesting partnerships! In this case, the mutual and individual energies change and are dependent on the letter-combinations in the new joint name. Does this sound complicated? It used to be all so simple!

Very occasionally, you will meet someone with an unbelievably long name – such as a First name, followed by two or even three Middle ones, followed by a hyphenated Last name.  Likewise, if you have the usual two or three names – but they add up to being exceptionally long – for instance, many-lettered names like Geraldine Camperdini and  Zachariar Sylvester Schulyer, or Bernadine Maria Kopalowski – then they would share similar challenges to those with multi or hyphenated names.
In the scheme of understanding names, what exactly does this mean?

Long and Multiple Names: present a serious energy-challenge throughout the life – unless the person can bring themselves into Balance. Usually the longer the name, the more diverse, challenging and fractionalizing the energy.
You may give others the impression that you’rescattered and unfocused, with a wealth of interests pulling you in many directions – often all at once!  Such diversity and lack of purpose can be confusing and creates the need for self discipline and narrowing down your interest spectrum.

Then again, some of you can handle this heightened energy without stress. You thrive on intense activity and enjoy the excitement of trying many different things – often to the chagrin of friends and relatives who wish you would settle into a solid occupation instead of being the dilettante!

Another group of long-namers  embraces the other extreme: In spite of sometimes overwhelming difficulties, you seem to be born with a built-in “radar” – tracking down and locking in to your chosen path.  You also emerge graced with the power to handle chaos and overload and follow your purpose without being moved – but you are one of the rare ones!

Short and Compact Names usually hold a keenly focused energy with less inclination for distraction.  The more concise the name, the more centered and concentrated the life. When disciplined or inspired, you direct your energy like a laser – cutting through doubts and fears, incinerating obstacles and inspiring others.  You too can involve yourself in a multitude of interests, but underlying the apparent diversity burns the flame of a single passion – a special goal or pursuit that eventually becomes your driving force.

Are you a Nicknamed Person? If so – in most cases – the nickname has its genesis on your birth-certificate where your longer original name awaits your understanding, reassessment and possible reclamation….if you want to participate in all of your potential!

“But I NEVER use that name – no one’s called me that since I was a tiny child!” Protest you might, but the unused real name contains part of the energy pattern from you essential sound-frequency and warrants inspection – even if just to discover what you have been avoiding by using a shorter version.
There are people (myself included), with long First names, who do not allow others to shorten them – and feel uncomfortable when it happens. Growing up, I never permitted “Babs” or “Barby” - some instinct in me felt the importance of keeping “Barbara” intact.

In spite of my seeming disapproval of Nicknames, there are certain exceptions when  it could be beneficial, or to your advantage, for instance:  you could attract an abbreviated name – not because you’re trying to avoid using the longer one, but you could have a subconscious choice to concentrate on the potential of the shortened version.

To illustrate, we’ll use the nickname “Pat” short for Patricia.  The “P” person tends to retreat into a core of peacefulness and remain there; or they take that calm core into the world and develop the knack of ‘smoothing the agitated feathers’ of the less-than-peaceful people surrounding them……unless of course the energy is unbalanced, then “P’s” become the ‘disturbers of the peace’ and delight in stirring up strife and cacophony wherever they go!
Also, with “A” smack in the middle (as the Challenge/Mastery), “Pat’s” need to confront and develop the use of their own personal power in constructive ways. (Check out Letter A from “Letter Meanings.) Then again, if your life-path is to developthe use of personal strength, power and leadership, “A” becomes a Challenge to embrace and master.

Now Look at the “T”on the other side of the power-loving or power-fearing “A” in “Pat”- it couldn’t be more dissimilar!!! Letter “T” is possibly the most spiritual, intuitive, sensitive and occasionally psychic letter in the entire alphabet – or maybe an overbearing Pat-person needs to learn to be!

Now let’s arrive at a possible meaning for the nickname “PAT” – “P” in the front and “T” at the end could modify the “A’s” naturally strong ego, and use of personal-power along the lines of peacefulness and self-containment, with a more sensitive and compassionate reaction to power and anger-inducing situations…..developing them into a ‘positive’ Pat. The negative Pats get power-high on staging as much disharmony around them as possible! Depending on how the energy is focused, you can have several versions of “Pat.”

The Different Parts of a Full Name (on your Birth Certificate) and what they mean:

First Name (Christian name) reflects your outer personality, who youthink you are – and how for the most part, you appear to other people – and who they think you are!

Second Name or Names (Middle Name or Names) thesecontain the more private aspects of your personality; from a deeper, almost subconscious level (perhaps not fully realized even by yourself), and sometimes containing unexpressed potential gifts and abilities. If you believe you have lived before and bring in the energy of past lives, this second name (or names) can reveal tendencies from those lives.  By sounding the Letters (check outSounding Your Own Name“) or meditating on the Middle name Letters, you can often release these hidden strengths (or unrealized abilities) to benefit and enrich your present life. “But what if I don’t have a Second name?” In that event, your First name carries ‘loaded’ information containing surface as well as ulterior meaning!

Last Name (another name for Surname, Maiden, or Family name) discloses the nature of the family milieu – the emotional, mental and physical atmosphere you were born into.  This includes early-adoptions.  This Last name also relates directly to your outer environment and also governs specifically your Life-Path.
After growing up, leaving home and venturing out into the world, your Last name continues to attract the opportunities n
eeded to fulfill that Life-Path including your occupation – how you earn your living and support yourself (and others) in the environment.  It also indicates how
the environment challenges and stimulates you to change, advance and grow – or resist those changes; but on a more profound level, the last name challenges you to be an agent for change and transformation within your own milieu as well as the world at large!  Also the letters in your Last name will indicate the areas of your own growth and transformation, as well as how you will eventually contribute and give back to the external reality surrounding your life experience.

The Key letters in tour Name: There are certain “Key” letters in your name that give special emphasis to your life’s direction.  Each letter in your name tells a story, but certain  letters have greater importance – these are the first, lastand middle letters (or middle two letters – if the name has an equal number of letters.)

The First Letter – THE LEAD.
(The energy that you lead with, how you ‘lead’
your life, how you appear in the world.)

1) The first letter of the first name……the persona, your personality ‘mask,’ how you impress or affect others.  Sometimes it’s what you would like others to think you are!

2) The first letter of the second name (or names)….the active force of your inner-nature – the mostly hidden “stuff” relating to the sub-self personalities (past-lives?) you were born with.

3) The first letter of your last name (or names)…..the leading force in response to your environment: your family and home milieu; your relationship with your family; your work and how you face the outer world.

The Middle Letter(s) – THE MASTERY/CHALLENGE.
(Theenergy of greatest challenge – that which you were born to gain mastery over – also, how you challenge and aggravate other people, and on the positive side: the way in which you assist others to focus on things they need to pay attention to.)

1)The middle letter(s) in your first name show your biggest and most pressing personal challenges.

2) The middle letter(s) in your second name(s) show your private, more hidden possibly karmic personality challenges and potentials.

3) The middle letter(s) in your last name(s) show your work, family and environment tasks.

How to findthe Middle Letters:
If you have a name like JANET or BRUCE, the names have an uneven number of letters, which means the Challenge letter would be the one exactly in the middle – the “n” in Janet and the “u” in Bruce.  This changes when there is an even number of letters, for instance in GORDON or MARGARET. Gordon’s Challenge letters are the middle two – “rd” and for Margaret – “ga.” (As alluded to above, the Middle Letters represent energies you might be resisting, avoiding or using incorrectly – thus they are ‘challenging’ you to change your attitude, and to embrace and master them!)

The Last Letter of your names – THE AIM.
(This is the energy of final attainment, or resolution, what you’re aiming to fulfill and complete this lifetime.)

1) The Aim Letter of your first name…….what your outer personality needs to develop the most.

2) The Aim Letter of you middle name(s)…..what you need to release and develop from your hidden, more karmic potential.

3) The Aim Letter of your last name(s)……what you want to achieve or resolve in your family, your work and the world.

To find the specifics of your Drive, Challenge and Aim Letters, look each one up (for each of your names) under “Letter Meanings”on its 26 Alphabet drop-down menu.  (lightly ‘hover’ your cursor over “Letter Meanings” on the Header Menu Bar and it will spring down in a long line of individual letters!)
